This picture is showing the wraps around the top
of the diamond, The mainframe pieces are 14 kt gold-filled wire and measures
1/16th square, I used the 1/2 round 21 gauge and put about six wraps on each.
I used the contour of my thumb and
forefinger to form the heart loops and very gentle pressure was applied making
sure not to bend it too much.
I of course had to set the opal in there just to
have a look at what was happening in this wrap. I did not have a clue as to what
I was going to wrap when I started this. A portion of the wrap had been sitting
unfinished for about 3 months waiting for the right stone.
This was the portion that had sat for three
months and the wire that was used for the loops was still straight.
I know it doesn't look like a good fit for the
stone, but it is completely adjustable as of yet. The other factors will be how
I wire the stone in and detract the gap from the eye's view, As with any
modeling or building/creating you control where the person looks.
I used about 3 1/2 wraps of the same 1/2 round
wires I used earlier.
Then I tied in the bottom after carefully bending
the wires to mate up. Took the pictures, then put the kids to bed, grabbed
something to munch on and wrote this web page.
This concludes the first part.
