Australia features the best of all these that I have listed above. They have the most stable opal in the world today and even scientists have been able to explain why. You need to know that the opal that comes from Neveda, Idaho, Mexico or Honduras or Ethiopia has a tendency to have a shorter life because of it's patterns of silica which make up the opal make it very unstable. It is my hope that the preservation of this opal be figured out. Make sure you get to know the person you are buying the opal from and find out if they will stand behind the stones that they sell. If not, they should be avoided until they do. You should research that dealer and be able to purchase with confidence provided he backs his product 100%.
